Beacon of Hope Mission awards celebrate local changemakers
Remarkable leaders, innovators and everyday heroes making a tangible difference in their communities will be honoured this Saturday at the annual international Beacon of Hope Mission awards at Bonamazi Game Reserve in Hluhluwe.
Hosted in collaboration with LifeLine Zululand, a leading emotional wellness non-profit, and international publishers Kelly Markey Writing Academy, the awards span more than a dozen categories, recognising individuals who dedicate their lives to creating a just and equitable world while celebrating extraordinary contributions to social impact.
Locally, LifeLine Zululand plays a crucial role in strengthening communities and providing essential mental health and social support services.
Meanwhile, Kelly Markey Writing Academy empowers individuals through writing and educational services, helping them express themselves and engage meaningfully with the world. LifeLine Zululand has also benefitted from support from the mission and the writing academy for several years, and proceeds from this weekend’s event will continue to support the organisation.
Kelly Markey, founder of Beacon of Hope Missions, said the awards will highlight the collective power of individuals and organisations working tirelessly to address social issues.
“The ceremony promises to be a night of inspiration, networking and recognition of those shaping the future for the betterment of society,” she said.
“The mission exists to champion individuals and initiatives that drive meaningful, lasting change. Guided by the belief that hope is the seed of transformation, our mission is to inspire, connect and equip changemakers to put their hands to the plough and shape a brighter future for communities across the globe.”
The awards honour contributions in literature, advocacy, humanitarian work and social change initiatives.
Markey added that the event will also launch the Beacon of Hope: A Catalyst for Change book anthology, featuring South African and global authors whose stories of overcoming life’s trials have inspired lasting change.
